MotoGP
n the qualifying
session, Jack Miller (Ducati lenovo
team) secured pole position,
followed by enea Bastianini
(gresini Racing) in second and
Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46
Racing team) in third place. from pole,
Miller got away well to keep the lead
and so did his teammate, francesco
Bagnaia, as he was straight up to third
from P5 on the grid. Behind them, there
was drama, with Johann Zarco (Prima
Pramac Racing), Pol espargaro (Repsol
honda team), and Michele Pirro
(aruba.it Racing) crashing out of
contention at turn One.
things became even more dramatic
on the second lap as Miller slipped out
at turn four and a few corners later, at
turn 10, Bezzecchi was on the floor.
Both riders were unhurt and both
remounted. new race leader Bastianini
then had a scary moment at turn 14 after
which Bagnaia was able to catch up and
pass him to take the lead for the first
time on the third lap. Viñales was sitting
in third place at this time and at the
back, championship contenders fabio
quartararo (Monster energy yamaha)
and aleix espargaro (aprilia Racing)
were battling for P5. they were 0.8
seconds off the leading group that
consisted of Bagnaia, Viñales (aprilia
Racing), Bastianini, and luca Marini
(Mooney VR46 Racing team).
the top four remained close and
quartararo was just 0.7 seconds away
from this fight. On lap 16, Bastianini ran
wide at turn 10 to allow Marini to pass
him, but he was straight back past
though on the run into the turn 11 righthander. Bastianini bounced back with a
series of quick laps to reel in Bagnaia and
Viñales. With eight laps to go, Viñales
started to drop his pace in the latter
stages and, finally, Bastianini carved his
way up to P2 at turn One. the gap to
Pecco at this time was 0.6 seconds and
soon was down to just 0.2 seconds.
With six laps to go, Bagnaia was
defending Bastianini who had received
a track limits warning. Bastianini was

slightly faster with just three laps to go
and he continued to chase him down till
the last lap. Bastianini was late on the
brakes going into turn four and got
really close to Bagnaia, but avoided
contact. the race still wasn’t over as he
made up the time he lost with the
mistake within the next few corners.
finally, coming out of the final corner,
Bastianini tried to snatch victory at the
run to the chequered flag. Bagnaia held
on to the lead and won with a lead of
0.034 seconds. Viñales finished 4.2
seconds behind in third and completed
the podium standings. With quartararo
bringing his yamaha to the finish-line in
P5, the championship battle gets closer.
With four wins in a row, Bagnaia now
has a tally of 181 points and is catching
up with quartararo who still leads the
championship with 211 points. aleix
